One of those is not like the others ...

More specifically, they’re all all-seasons except the BFG Sport Comp-2 which is a summer tire. Any particular reason ... ?

I’ve never actually regretted buying the better tire...

IMO it’s one of the most important aspects of the car...safety, handling, predictability, etc. Why skimp, especially when your size tire is relatively cheap.

I don’t like any of those tires. Directional tires suck because you can’t rotate them.

You should consider the Falken Ziex ZE950

The price difference here is small in the grand scheme of things. You’re talking $100 for the nicer all seasons, which you’ll drive on for 2 or more years.

Also, do you have a Firestone near you? They were doing some good clearances for June.

What is your goal? I for one run Federal 595s on all my street cars, good mix of grippy and slidey depending on how you drive. The track car gets Advan AD08s.

$135 difference? Easy choice. That’s only five bucks a month over the two years you’ll own them. I had the Ecstas. I know they review well but I thought they sucked. I was young and dumb. Still am but I was then too. Get the sports.

Also remember installation is going to be another 60ish. Which increases overall cost, but brings down the percent difference between the options.

06/30/2016 at 20:06

Yeah, but it’s better if you can move them side-to-side (which can’t be done with directional tires. Front-to-back isn’t enough for me.

Supposedly, Walmart includes remounting the tires in their free rotations with directional tires.

I would go for one of the cheap sets. In my experience those directional BFG’s trend to wear funny on the edges. Hankook’s are usually ok. Kumho’s are usually very good for the price. None of these will work terribly well with aggressive alignments if that matters to you.

Comp 2's. You won’t regret them. All of the stickyness. And handle damn well in heavy and I mean really heavy rain.

Last 3 sets of Tire’s I’ve bought (and actually been happy with, have been g-force sport comp, g-force sport comp, and the last set, g-force sport comp-2 (new compound!)

Maybe that’s it, another factor is I run square setups on everything I own so they do get rotated from time to time. But they wore even on my 240, my E30, and look to be wearing real even about 7K in on my E39 as well.

Perfect, let me know the details once you’ve got them and the approximate ratio of twisties to straights so I bring the right tool for he job.

99% staggered for me. Huge factor obviously. But continental and newer Michelin (except PS A/S plus) mostly wear really really well.

More twisties than not. But you should be ok on either the SV or the triumph. Diverse group of bikes with noob riders to very experienced riders. Speeds will likely exceed what the drz can do, at least for some of us.

Right on, I actually made a couple changes a few weeks ago to the DR-Z that make it pretty comfortable in the 30-80 range with bursts to just over 100 possible. If it’s tight technical stuff (similar to that ride we took) then it’s gonna be the fastest thing out there! Not really opposed to losing out a bit on the straights as she will claw it back in corners.

But if it’s longer sweepers and a lot of fast sections, you’re right the sv650 or Tb are likely better options.

I’ve got the Comp 2 A/S on my 200 (280hp V6, 6 speed auto with granny low first gear in a 3600lb front drive sedan) in 235/50/ZR18, fantastic grip, work great in heavy rain and even do decent in all but slushy snow. The only problem I’ve had is excessive tire wear, just not sure if the alignment got knocked that far out and that’s what did it or if they just wear way to fast for a 40k mile tire, I’ve already replaced 2 and have to atleast replace the one of the other two, with less than 20k on it.

I recently bought a set of the spot comp 2's for my 02 supercharged mini cooper. I like them alot. They are 215/45/17 and I paid $107 each. Nearly every review on TR says they are loud, but mine have been pretty quiet. They are nicely grippy and Im super happy with them.
